Labourer (NOC 7611)

Labourers perform a wide range of duties for the managers and supervisors to facilitate the efficient operation of the organization.

Duties

In general, duties would be to assist with:

  • Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
  • Put up and take down work benches
  • Move tools to work area and cleanup work area as required and at end of day
  • Clean up debris and tools, pile salvaged materials and leave yard “like it was your own” at the end of the day 
  • Mix and pour Post Haste when needed
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs bags of Post Haste
  • Assist in building fence construction activities
  • Help skid steer operator secure special attachments to equipment, signal operator to guide them in moving equipment, and provide assistance in other activities
  • Digging holes for the fence, when required
  • Using manual, power, and battery-operated tools, such as wheelbarrow, pry bar, skill saw, reciprocal saw, drills, portable router, hammer drill, gas post pounder, levels, shovels, rakes and other equipment
  • Work takes place mostly outdoors in various weather conditions but also inside the shop from time to time
  • Perform other activities on site as directed

Education and Experience

  • Grade 12 Diploma
  • Valid BC Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software including MS Office and social media platforms
  • Internet skills including use of e-mails, group messaging and information gathering
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices

Additional Requirements

  • Employee will be required to wear basic PPE (steel toed boots, bright safety vest, eye protection, ear protection and gloves) 
  • Must not have allergies to animals due to working environment
  • Must be able to pass spontaneous drug/alcohol testing, if required
  • Must adhere to company Vision, Mission and Core Values
  • Must adhere to company Health & Safety Plan
  • No smokers please due to working environment and on-site safety concerns
  • First Aid training would be an asset
  • WHIMIS training would be an asset
  • Prior experience would be an asset
  • Heavy Trailer Endorsement would be an asset

This position will be seasonal to start; however, we are seeking a long-term team member.  If the successful candidate is interested in further opportunity (post Covid-19 restrictions) there is a possibility of Skid Steer Operation, CNC Router, Shipping/Receiving and Delivery training, as well as further Health and Safety training.
